Bologna’s Art & Food Market Walking Tour with Light Lunch

Our tour will begin in Bologna’s City Center; the medieval Piazza Maggiore. Its centerpiece, the Renaissance Neptune Fountain is surrounded by the beautiful public buildings of historic Bologna. Among others, you’ll see City Hall, Palazzo del Podestà, Palazzo dei Banchi, and Palazzo dei Notai.
We’ll walk beneath the dramatic porticoes of the Piazza into the old market area. Here we will explore the famous specialty food purveyors of our delicious Bolognese cuisine.
The handmade pasta shops are filled with Tortellini, Tortelloni and Tagliatella. Hanging in every meat shop you’ll see our classic Prosciutto di Parma and Bologna’s famous Mortadella . You’ll leave this tour with a new respect for the king of vinegars “Traditional Balsamic Vinegar” once we expose you to the many varieties of this tasty condiment.
If you love sweets, you’ll love our next stops. We begin at one of our fantastic bakeries which features local cakes and pastries followed by a visit to a historic chocolatier. You’ll enjoy the history of and a tasting of bark-like scorza, the oldest existing form of edible chocolate, which is still made and sold in Bologna.

A LIGHT LUNCH: We will indulge in a variety of authentic and local meat products such as Mortadella I.G.P, Parma Ham D.O.P, Culatello di Zibello D.O.P and Salame Felino I.G.P. You’ll enjoy the “King” of Cheese Parmigiano Reggiano D.O.P and 1 Bottle of Pignoletto Wine (local white sparkling wine) or Lumbrisco.
